These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the US Cannabis License Directory ("the Site"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. Description of Service
The Site provides a publicly accessible directory of US cannabis and hemp license holders, compiled from federal and state regulatory sources. The Site includes a community edit system that allows authenticated users to suggest corrections and additions.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Site. By logging in with GitHub, you represent that you meet this requirement.
3. User Accounts
Authentication is provided through GitHub OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your GitHub account. We are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from your failure to secure your credentials.
4. Community Edits
4.1 License to Contributions
By submitting an edit, you grant Loyal9 LLC a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, modify, and distribute your contribution as part of the dataset.
4.2 Attribution
All edits are attributed to your GitHub username and are publicly visible in the Edit Ledger. You acknowledge that your contributions are not anonymous.
4.3 Accuracy
You agree to submit only information you believe to be accurate. Intentionally submitting false, misleading, or malicious data is a violation of these Terms.
4.4 Prohibited Content
- Personal information of private individuals not already in the public record
- Defamatory, threatening, or harassing content
- Spam, advertising, or promotional material
- Malicious code, scripts, or injection attempts
4.5 Moderation
Loyal9 LLC reserves the right to review, approve, reject, or remove any community edit at its sole discretion without notice.
5. Intellectual Property
The published DOI dataset (raw.csv, raw.json) and the community dataset are released under CC BY 4.0. The Site's source code is released under the MIT License.
"Loyal9," "CI Seed Registry," and "Powered by CI" are trademarks of Loyal9 LLC. Use of these marks requires prior written permission.
6. Acceptable Use
- Do not scrape the Site at a rate that degrades performance
- Do not attempt unauthorized access to the AWS backend
- Do not impersonate another user
- Do not use the Site for any unlawful purpose
- Do not interfere with the Site's infrastructure
7. API Usage
The Site's API endpoints are intended for use by the Site's frontend only. Programmatic access without prior written permission is prohibited.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SITE AND ALL DATA ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. SEE THE DISCLAIMER FOR FULL DETAILS.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOYAL9 LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR RELIANCE ON THE DATA.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Loyal9 LLC, its owner, and its contributors from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Site or violation of these Terms.
11. Termination
Loyal9 LLC may suspend or terminate your access to the community edit system at any time, for any reason, without notice.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Riverside County, California.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
